A hand reaches up—not to grasp, but to carry.
In Tides (1984), Maria Angela freezes a moment of transformation in glass. Within a transparent spiral, a woman floats, weightless, as if carried along by the waves of an inner change of tides.

Opposite her: a shell that opens into an arch.
From it a rose is shot like an arrow — a powerful symbol of vulnerability that cannot be captured, but is aimed at its destination.

The spiral, the hand, the rose: everything is in motion, but nothing is out of balance.

Tides is a visual meditation on letting go, direction and the gentle force with which life unfolds itself.
