Three owls look at you — with a smile that knows more than it shows.
In Ex Libris (1995) Maria Angela weaves wisdom, humor and mysticism into one image. The three owls , symbol of insight and nocturnal knowledge, refer to Tijl Uilenspiegel : the trickster who brings the truth through mockery, playfulness and unexpected detours.

Above them floats a golden ring , like a halo of insight. The artist’s own name is enshrined in it — as if this work bears her personal seal, her spirit captured on paper.

Ex Libris is at once light and charged.
An ode to the fluid boundary between knowledge and mystery, joke and seriousness, the sacred and the naughty.
